Disneyland Paris 25th Anniversary The Starlit Princess Waltz and Mickey presents "Happy Anniversary Disneyland Paris"

More details have been revealed about two of the lesser discussed new Disneyland Paris 25th Anniversary events: The Starlit Princess Waltz and Mickey presents “Happy Anniversary Disneyland Paris”. Together, both will bring Royal Castle Stage back to life several times daily.

We’ve long assumed The Starlit Princess Waltz would be comparable to Royal Christmas Wishes, which has been a popular Disney’s Enchanted Christmas event on the same stage for the past two years.

A new press release confirms no different, but at least fleshes out a few new details — including a featured song “Every Girl Can Be A Princess”, taken from Disney Princess albums.

The Starlit Princess Waltz

A real-life magical ball that will make dreams come true for princesses of all ages. With the wave of a magic wand, Tinker Bell has transformed the Royal Castle Stage, with delicate latticework arches, into a starlit ballroom where the Disney Princesses waltz. Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Snow White, Cinderella, Jasmine, Rapunzel and Tiana, dressed in magnificent ball gowns, to the sound of a romantic fanfare, create a magical moment against the unique backdrop of Sleeping Beauty Castle and its spectacular fountains.

“One of the songs in the show is called “Every Girl can be A Princess” and, as well as the eight princesses featured on stage, we also wanted all the little girls in the audience to feel like princesses throughout this 25th Anniversary year”, smiles Amanda Cahen, the Show Director.

The Starlit Princess Waltz will take place several times a day.

For the first time in its history Le Théâtre du Château, as it’s also known, will present two different shows in the same day, each one apparently “several times a day.”

Could that mean we might even be able to enjoy both daytime and twilight versions of either of these shows, as daylight hours permit?

Originally quite hard to pin down on details, Mickey presents “Happy Anniversary Disneyland Paris” now sounds almost like a general Disney character version of the Princesses’ show — a brief but large-scale musical number; the perfect chance for guests to get that all-important sighting and snapshot of the famous characters in their day at the park.

Dressed in his smartest costume, a blue and silver dinner jacket in the colours of the 25th Anniversary year, Mickey has prepared a grand surprise in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, ceremoniously assembling his friends for an unforgettable anniversary celebration. Appearing at the top of the steps of a sparkling crystal castle to the sound of lively music, Mickey invites his friends, guests included, to join him in a resounding musical chorus of “Happy Anniversary Disneyland Paris”! A dazzling show worthy of a unique anniversary celebration!

“It is rare that I get the opportunity to direct so many Disney Characters in one show” reveals Emmanuel Lenormand, the Show Director. “It is essential to create a big picture, like in a musical, while respecting the personality of each Character: no one can make a grand entrance quite like Mickey!”.

The two shows will likely be quite comparable in their length and style.

These details were released alongside the images of Mickey and Minnie’s new 25th Anniversary outfits, which will be particularly featured in this stage production.

Since Disney Princesses don’t cater to everyone’s tastes, it’s fantastic that the stage — probably one the best placed in any Disney park — will be brought into such regular use with another, more general character show.

All the same, hopefully the two shows won’t be advertised too much more between such old-fashioned lines as “girls can feel like Princesses” — don’t most boys (and men, and women) enjoy these fairytales just as much?

Guests can enjoy the shows at different times throughout the day

Mickey presents “Happy Anniversary Disneyland® Paris” and The Starlit Princess Waltz take place in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle; “a unique location because this alone symbolises Disneyland® Park”, Emmanuel Lenormand explains.

In accordance with the show schedule, guests will therefore be able to enjoy two shows, both as magical as each other, in the same location throughout this 25th Anniversary year.

How to do a “castle stage” — and how not to do a castle stage…

For festivals past, we had to suffer a temporary, awkward stage placed in the middle of Central Plaza, severely harming visitor flow and views of Sleeping Beauty Castle itself, all the while as Royal Castle Stage remained empty.

From a gradual resurgence during the park’s recent Spring, Halloween and Christmas seasons, it’s a great anniversary gift that this purpose-built location at the heart of the park, framing the castle perfectly between its pillars, will be so filled with life.
