Video: Disney Imagineers introduce Ratatouille’s “crookedology” and other secrets

Video: Imagineers introduce Ratatouille's "crookedology" and other secrets

Oh, those Walt Disney Imagineers! If they’re not merging words such as “imagination” and “engineering” together, they’re coming up with brand new ones, like “crookedology”.

What’s “crookedology”, you ask? It’s the term the Imagineers and Ratatouille movie production designer Harley Jessup give to the way the Paris of the movie “looks like Paris, but everything is just slightly crooked”, lending it a familiar but whimsical quality.

This and other secrets are revealed in a brief new video from the official Disneyland Paris YouTube channel, embedded below, which goes behind-the-scenes at 1401 Flower Street, the headquarters of Walt Disney Imagineering where many of the 1,500 employees covering 140 different specialisations work their magic.

The video also gives a closer look at the large exterior model for La Place de Rémy and Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée in Rémy in Walt Disney Studios Park and it’s a welcome addition to the official YouTube channel — more like this, please!

Discover Ratatouille: The Ride on a brand new teaser page!

Ratatouille: The Ride Disneyland Paris

It’s no secret that Walt Disney Studios Park will expand with a brand new dark ride and restaurant this summer, as Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy comes to life in La Place de Rémy, at the back of Toon Studio next to Toy Story Playland.

To begin the countdown, and to help provide a bit more basic background information about the new attraction, you can now find a brand new Ratatouille: The Ride teaser page here, and even featured at the top of every page!

This special page is intended as a temporary teaser, featuring the press release, video trailer and a helpful FAQ with a quick “Where? What? Who?” of the known facts so far.

Over the coming months, DLRP Today will be the main source for news and updates from the development, and if you’re keen to never miss the latest from Rémy’s new Parisian quarter, make sure you’re following both our Twitter accounts or our Facebook page, too:

An opening date still has yet to be announced, but with rumours pointing to early July, with possible previews from the end of June, we could have roughly as little as four months to wait until Ratatouille is finally a reality at Disneyland Paris.

And what do you think to our choices — have we missed one of your Top 20?

The page joins our existing Wishes Wall, where you can share memories and birthday greetings for the 20th Anniversary. One further page will complete these special features: a 20 Moments Timeline, recounting twenty of the most important dates in the resort’s history, due to launch soon. And, once the anniversary celebrations and events get fully underway, we’ll launch full guides to each and every one, including a comprehensive update of our existing Disney Dreams! guide.
